Patricia is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She earned a B.S. in Biology from The Colorado College in 1979, and is a 1984 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She originally specialized in equine (horse) medicine, but since 1985 has focused on small animal medicine. She has a special interest in holistic veterinary medicine. In 1990 she obtained her Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture, and has completed advanced training in Classical Homeopathy and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Dr. Ungar is a member and Past President (’95) of the San Diego County Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of the California Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, the International Veterinary Acupuncture Association, American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture. She, her husband, three children and four cats and one dog have lived in the Kensington area since 1987, and they enjoy travel- especially adventure travel when possible, as well as reading, music, movies and theater, and giving back to their community.
